Escape Will Get You Tonight
The book accompanying the video and installation exhibition "Escape Will Get You Tonight" presents a network of reflections, duplicities, and echoes that appear in it. Elvis impersonators, a coffee reader predicting a family curse, supernatural entities, and an escape room operated by a band are just some of the images that Noa Simhayof Shahaf weaves together into an endless cycle of escape and pursuit, charged with both ominous and nostalgic connotations.
The essays accompanying her work include: a text by the exhibition curator Nir Evron, Ido Feder’s search for freedom through the presence of the home entity, and an examination of the phenomenon of Elvis impersonators as an expression of contemporary culture by Mika Chertok.
